The Mission That Drives Our Ministry

Our Mission

Helping dads and sons connect, with Christ at the center of their relationship.

Our Central Verse

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

-Ecclesiastes 4:12

“Our passion is to see every boy come to know and experience that he is known, loved, accepted, and affirmed by his dad or by another man of significant influence. This is the blessing that every boy must receive as he transitions to manhood.”

Beau Glenn Executive Director

OUR PURPOSE

The nature of time spent between a young man and his dad or another man of significant influence is critical to his future well-being. Young men with disengaged or disinterested dads are at greater risk for a wide range of harmful behaviors and habits.

A young man and his dad tend to grow close over the first 12 years of their relationship. But, when the young man nears & hits his early teens, they both start to experience a gravitational pull away from one another and toward isolation and disconnection. Unfortunately, most dads at this time feel powerless to change the course of the relationship and the drift becomes permanent.

So, how do we make sure the father/son relationship is at its strongest during the most critical point in their life? It’s about being intentional, being engaged, and placing Christ at the center of their relationship.

Our one-day events are designed to bring dad and son together through activities, messages, and one-on-one time to create a bond that lasts a lifetime.

As a father and son invite God to bond them together into a lifetime relationship of respect and friendship, a cord of three strands is formed – a cord strong enough to see a young man through the challenges of adolescence, and ultimately, manhood.

Cohlby Youtsey | Director of events

Cohlby joined Pure Adventure in June of 2015 after teaching 6th and 7th-grade math in Fort Worth ISD for seven years. He grew up in Cypress, Tx, and is a 2008 graduate of TCU’s College of Education. While teaching at the Young Men’s Leadership Academy during its inaugural years, Cohlby realized his passion for working with and empowering all young men. After three years at YMLA, he felt God’s call to leave one classroom, and step into a different one! Cohlby’s desire is to cultivate young men into godly men, husbands, and fathers for the future. Cohlby and his wife Christina married in 2012, and have been blessed with three boys; Knox, Alistair, and Haddon.
